Peninsula Roofing LLC is a family company that has been in the roofing industry for over 70 years with four generations roofing in the northwest. In 1937 Gene Ryker Sr. started working in Tacoma with his uncle Glen Giessman who had previously been roofing slate and tiles roofs along the west coast.

During this time in the Depression Era Gene Sr was working for $1 a day. Gene Sr. was in the Pacific during WW2 and returned to roofing in 1945 after the war. In 1959 Gene Jr. started roofing with his dad and two years later his brother Tom began roofing.

In 1966 Peninsula Roofing was started by the Ryker family. It was originally located in Burley, WA at what is now the Burley Store. After 5 years they went to join the Seattle Roofing Union. In 1990 Gene Jr reopened Peninsula Roofing, and his two sons Tim and Don, began working with him.

Currently Peninsula Roofing LLC is still owned and operated by the Ryker family with Tim and Dave (Tim's other brother) handling operations and Sandi Ryker (Gene Jr.'s wife) running the office. Meanwhile Gene Jr. is having a go at retirement having passed on his knowledge to his sons.
